Why saturated probability spaces are necessary

چکیده
An atomless probability space (Ω,A, P ) is said to have the saturation property for a probability measure μ on a product of Polish spaces X×Y if for every random element f of X whose law is margX(μ), there is a random element g of Y such that the law of (f, g) is μ. (Ω,A, P ) is said to be saturated if it has the saturation property for every such μ. We show each of a number of desirable properties holds for every saturated probability space and fails for every non-saturated probability space. These include distributional properties of correspondences, such as convexity, closedness, compactness and preservation of upper semi-continuity, and the existence of pure strategy equilibria in games with many players. We also show that any probability space which has the saturation property for just one “good enough” measure, or which satisfies just one “good enough” instance of the desirable properties, must already be

Acceptable random variables in non-commutative probability spaces
Acceptable random variables are defined in noncommutative (quantum) probability spaces and some of probability inequalities for these classes are obtained. These results are a generalization of negatively orthant dependent random variables in probability theory. Furthermore, the obtained results can be used for random matrices.
متن کاملTransference of SH-Waves in Fluid Saturated Porous Medium Sandwiched Between Heterogeneous Half-Spaces
A mathematical model is considered to investigate the behavior of horizontally polarized shear waves (SH-waves) in fluid saturated porous medium sandwiched between heterogeneous half-spaces. Heterogeneity in the upper half-space is due to linear variation of elastic parameters, whereas quadratic variation has been considered for lower half-space. The method of separation of variables and Whitta...

This comment on Professor Fotaki’s Editorial agrees with her arguments that training health professionals in more compassionate, caring and ethically sound care will have little value unless the system in which they work changes. It argues that for system change to occur, senior management, government members and civil servants themselves need training so that they learn to understand the effec...
متن کاملThe concentration function problem for $G$-spaces
In this note, we consider the concentration function problem for a continuous action of a locally compact group $G$ on a locally compact Hausdorff space $X$. We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for the concentration functions of a spread-out irreducible probability measure $mu$ on $G$ to converge to zero.
متن کاملPilar DELLUNDE EQUALITY - FREE SATURATED MODELS
Saturated models are a powerful tool in model theory. The properties of universality and homogeneity of the saturated models of a theory are useful for proving facts about this theory. They are used in the proof of interpolation and preservation theorems and also as work-spaces. Sometimes we work with models which are saturated only for some sets of formulas, for example, recursively saturated ...
